Excerpts from Recent Lectures and Guidance

January 25, 2015: New Year Gathering in Yokohama

In face of Chaos, even though we intend to bring out various potentials, our heart are prone to label the world as either good or bad. Toward stimulations of pleasure, we look at the world as good – that is, when we succeed or when we think things went smooth – our world is good. Toward stimulations of pain, that is, when we feel things are not going smoothly, when we fail – we instantly label situations as bad. And so it is either good or bad that we unconsciously and automatically view the world. In other words, we are often categorizing the world into either good or bad.

And when we feel that things are bad, our hearts shrink and we tend to not want to think about anything; our minds stop working and it becomes difficult even to make a move; we freeze. What about when we label the world as good? Our hearts feel secure and we bask in the momentary satisfaction while we actually may be unaware of an opportunity to bring out the potential of something and miss it as things come to a close – we let opportunity run away.

Whether things may be good or bad, there are results unborn – and things can still turn out in any way. But we are inclined to conclude that things have ended based on perceiving just the surface.

Please think for a moment about the example of the empty wooden box. Inside of that empty box lay the potential of a chair, a side table, and even paper – to transform into a completely different form; and furthermore, it had the potential to convert into energy. However, if our hearts oscillate between pleasure and pain, then we are prone to observe that empty box merely as an empty box.

Therefore, in the world of truth, there is no good or bad, but instead, the Chaos of results unborn. And inside of Chaos there are negative causes that can tumble into negative results; and there are also positive causes of which potential can be transformed into positive results. That is what is inside of Chaos. And when our hearts interact with it, one positive or one negative result takes form.

Since this is the case, we should cultivate our hearts and carefully discern the inclinations for darkness inside of Chaos and then stop them, if you discern that there are seeds for pain, confusion, stagnation, and destruction inside of Chaos. If inside of Chaos you recognize that there is potential for creativity, joy, vitality, and harmony, then we are to bring them out.

And this is made possible by each one of your Ju-Hatsu-Shiki – it is our hearts that produces all of this into the world.

Now, then everyone, are we going to live in a world in which we see only two dimensions of either good or bad; or will we advance into the world understanding it as Chaos and live in world where we can produce many opportunities? Depending on which life we choose to live, what becomes of our future? There is a 180-degree difference between the two choices.
