Excerpts from Recent Lectures and Guidance

Lastly I would like to tell you all about this certain principle. The principle is called the “Pareto Principle” discovered by an Italian economist named Vilfredo Pareto. It is derived from an empirical rule in which 20 percent of the producers of products produced 80% of the products.

This is the same in the business world. I am sure that if you are in business you are familiar with a theory that claims the top 20 percent of a sales force produce 80 percent of all sales.

In other words, 20 percent of the principle people who take initiative create 80 percent of the results. What does that mean? It means that only 20 percent are able to stand on the In-En side.

Look around you. For example, how many are actually taking initiative and leading your company? If you are a member of your neighborhood association, I would like you to consider how many people are actually taking initiative and leading the council?

I believe this is a very important issue when thinking about the future of Japan. The future of hope that we are to create going forward. Do you think it is really possible for only 20 percent of the people to create a path to the future?
