To Use New Words

A Time to Face Words

July is traditionally called fumizuki (month of literature) in Japan.

The widely accepted theory is that the name fumizuki originates from the customs of the past, such that people presented poems and they allowed books to dry in the wind at the night of Tanabata (the Star Festival) on July 7th. The practices of Tanabata were originally introduced from China during the Nara Period (710–794AD) and many customs and practices that originated in China still remain in Japan.

It is words that construct both poems and books. This month, I would like to begin by thinking about what words mean to us.

1 Compass of the Times July 2016

Words are something that we must have as humans. Words allow us to communicate with each other, and have heart-to-heart interactions. This establishes connections between human beings, enabling humans to coexist. Words are what makes us human.

None of these are possible without words.

There Is a World That Is Revealed by Words of the Divine Truth

In my book The Way of Life with Soul Doctrine (currently available only in Japanese), I brought up the issue that the Japanese language consists of a greater number of adjectives that express the tastes of food than any other language. This means that Japanese people experience the realm of taste that people in other countries are not aware of.

Words are windows through which we see the world, and they change how we perceive the world.

Let us consider this in regards to Words of the Divine Truth.

Currently we are focusing on studying and practicing the Chaos-perception approach *1.

Chaos is a situation, in which a result is yet to be produced, and it contains both possibilities and limitations; it consists of factors of light and factors of darkness. Various trials that appear in front of us are also nothing but Chaos .
By this word Chaos , we perceive a new state of the world.

In the midst of the Kumamoto earthquake that occurred on April 14, 2016, GLA members all perceived the situation “as Chaos ”. This means that they saw the disaster of the earthquake as a situation that has both seeds of light and darkness. By doing so they were protecting their hearts from a helpless feeling, the infiltration of darkness which is induced by the disaster.

How about the words the Law of Causality of the Soul*2? By these words We become fully conscious of the three dimensions of Soul–Mind/Heart–Reality, and try to perceive these callings to our mind/heart and soul when facing any situation. This means that the way we view the incidents of our lives, and how we perceive the world around us, changes into something new.

Let Us Try to Use New Words

The Study of the Soul*3 has numerous new words.

New members, therefore, may have difficulty in fully comprehending it.

However, I would like you to regard each new word as a new window through which you see the world. I would like you to perceive each word as power that can change the world and as something that leads you to a new way of life and paves a new path.

And in order to attain these windows and power, you

have to learn new words. For that, I recommend you to use these words repeatedly in various occasions. By living new words we can discover a new world and open new paths.

In July, the month of literature, we would like to think anew about our new words.

1 Chaos It is a situation in which no result is produced yet. Chaos can turn into light and darkness, success and failure, plus and minus, development and stagnation, and creation and destruction. To change the future, it is necessary to touch the state of Chaos before it is fixed as good or bad. (Excerpted and summarized from We Can Change the Future (available only in Japanese)

2 The Law of Causality of the Soul The law of cause and effect which connects the soul, the mind-heart, and reality of human beings. The reality that we are to live now is not only the reflection of our mind-heart, but also the reflection of our soul which resides at the very depth of our mind-heart. Thus, by transforming our own minds, we can change not only reality but also fulfill the missions that our souls are given for this life. (Excerpted and summarized from pp.3-4, The Reason Why You Were Born as You)

3 The Study of the Soul It is the perspective that grasps our lives from the level of the soul, and refers to the system of the truth, the Divine Truth, that permeates every aspect of the human soul and the world. As opposed to the study of phenomena that are directed at the tangible world, the Study of the Soul is an investigation of all things, including the formless and intangible world. (Excerpted and summarized from pp.3-4, The Reason Why You Were Born as You)
