January 18, 2015: New Year Gathering in Osaka
Everyone, let’s take a look at this. This is the image of us as we are facing the flow of time.
Now, when we talk about time, we are moving forward from the past to the present, and into the future. Tomorrow will come, and then the day after tomorrow in the future will come upon us. Soon what is now one month ahead or two months ahead will rush toward us one after another. We are living in this flow even at this very moment.
Let’s assume you will have a meeting with a very important client tomorrow; and it could be critical for the future of your company. At this present moment, the meeting is ahead of us; still in the future. However, in 24 hours, it will become now at this moment. We will then be actually sitting face to face with our client and begin our negotiations. Then what will happen in another 24 hours? The meeting that we were attending a while ago has already become the past by then.
Various events that we experience in life, whether they may be situations or meetings with people, are being sent off one by one from the future to the present, and from the present to the past. No one can ever stop this flow.
I have described how human beings proceed in the flow of the time.” This is as if we are driving through the expressway at an extremely high speed. In front of us is an open road and ahead of us is a succession of scenes, the future that we are to enter and experience. What was ahead of us a moment ago is now pushed behind us in a flash. One by one, each scene of our past accumulates behind us. What existed a moment ago as our future, has instantly become a place we occupy, and then, immediately passes us by and now becomes the view behind.
In this way, day by day, various incidents and encounters are pushed to the rearwards of our life. Here is something I would like everyone to understand. What was once ahead of us becomes our “here and now,” and then our view behind. Each becomes the event we already experienced, in other words, the reality that are fixed and unchangeable. It is now turned into reality of fixed result.
