Excerpts from Recent Lectures and Guidance

June 1, 2014: 2014 Hoshin Daigaku Seminar

I think that this era is particularly calling out to the people of the Hoshin generation to “Stand on the In-En side!” In order to take this position, you need to discover within you a new aspiration, a new will to live a new life from now on. That is what you have learned in the last two days. You need to Reawaken your Cause.

That is what nobody else but you can do. The reality of your current life is the result of the ups and downs you have experienced in your 65 or 70 years. Upon reflecting and accepting your life, what do you wish for? You are to bear the new will and live your life from now on until the end of your fate. That is what it means to Reawaken your Cause.

Japan now has a population of approximately 125 million. Among them, 30 million people are the 65 and over who are the Hoshin generation. What if each one of them could Reawaken their Cause in their soul, if they could restart their lives? What would happen if they start living that way?

I believe that Reawakening the Cause in the center of the hearts of the people of the Hoshin generation is none other than what leads to the blueprint for the next era and birth of the future Japan. You were born in this world to accomplish your mission which is hidden inside your soul. The reason lies in the history of the reconstruction of postwar Japan. Who was it that created those various realities for the future of Japan from those burnt out ruins?

It was all of you and those people who were a little older than you.

Please raise your hand if you remember seeing the burnt ruins where everything was gone. Yes, I’m sure you can. After the war, there were traces here and there of military factories as well as various realities which were reminiscent of its past that were here and there.

From there, each of you played a part in rebuilding a new Japan. I believe that all of you have the power of wisdom accumulated inside of you to reconstruct a country. Are you going to use that wisdom in your next life as you retire from the In-En side in this lifetime? Or, instead of taking it back for your next lifetime, are you thinking of using it in this lifetime again?

I would really like you to exercise that wisdom thoroughly in this present world. Hoshin Daigaku students, be ambitious. Be ambitious not for money or for selfish aggrandizement, not for that evanescent thing which men call fame. Be ambitious for the attainment of all that a man ought to be. It is an ambition with which we live to accomplish our missions as human beings. I wish for all of us to do our best every day with such an ambition at heart.
